Login to your Router
a. Type http://192.168.1.1 into the web browser address bar (also try http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.2.1)
b. Enter router username and password. The default username & password is usually admin for both.
Add Static Routes
a. Click on Advanced
b. Write down your router IP and then click on 'Static Routes'
c. Click on 'Add'
d. Add the following to the Route List:
Network/Host IP: 8.8.8.8
Netmask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway: your router IP
Metric: 2
e. Click 'Apply'
f. Repeat steps D and E for the following routes:
Network/Host IP: 8.8.4.4
Netmask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway: your router IP
Metric: 2
Network/Host IP: 208.67.222.222
Netmask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway: your router IP
Metric: 2
Network/Host IP: 209.244.0.3
Netmask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway: your router IP
Metric: 2
Alternative Instructions
Some Netgear models are a little different. These instructions may work for such models:
Click "Advanced Setup"
Click "Routing"
Click "Static Route"
Click "Add"
Enter the following Information:
Static Route Parameters:
IP Version: IPV4
Destination IP Address / Prefix Length: 8.8.8.8/32
Interface: LAN/BR0
Gateway IP Address: <your router IP>
Metric: 2
Repeat with 8.8.4.4/32 208.67.222.222/32 and 209.244.0.3/32 as the destination IP, so you have 4 in total.
For NETFLIX apps of any device you also need to add following static routes;
Network Address: 45.57.0.0
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router)
Network Address: 108.175.0.0
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router)
Network Address: 185.2.0.0
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router)
Network Address: 198.45.0.0
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router)
Additional Routes
Some of our users also suggested the use of the following static routes. But these may also cause issues on some other user networks. So please use the first set of static routes first and then, if needed, you can try the following ones:
Network Address: 23.246.0.0
Subnet Mask: 255.255.192.0 (or /18)
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router)
Network Address: 198.38.0.0
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router)
